Happy New Year from Jack and Lona at Horse Creek Adventures, Trailhead Station and Country Diamond!
We are excited to share our 2023 plans with you! For the very first time we have ALL of our lodging ready for guests: Tailhead Station lodge, Country Diamond bed and breakfast, and our off-the-grid cabins! With that done, we now have time to offer new activities at HCA! This means you’ll be able to enjoy the outdoors at HCA in new ways when you’re ready to “Get Away From It All.”
What’s In Store?
More hiking and horse-riding trails will open up new parts of our 170+ acres in the Loess Hills. We’re adding seasonal activities that will provide special once-a-year opportunities. And, by working with Audubon’s eBird program and National Geographic Society’s iNaturalist program, guests will gain a deeper understanding of the diversity at HCA.
More Hands On Deck
Jack and I knew all of our plans required extra hands. We also knew that whoever joined the staff would need to be very creative and love the outdoors. We are delighted to announce that we found that person. It is our pleasure to introduce the newest member of our management team: Samantha (Sam) Welch. Sam’s first project is to put together a special Valentine event.
We invited Sam to share more about herself. You can see her comments below.
Stop By & Say Hello To Sam
Hello! As Lona mentioned above my name is Sam. I grew up in Hamburg, Iowa and graduated from Hamburg High School in 2008. I’ve been in the Iowa Army National Guard for 16 years and have been all around the world! During the flood, as I was watched the events all unfold from Cuba I decided it was time to put down roots in this place that I have always considered home. I spent the better part of three years working at Hendrickson Transportation LLC as a Project Coordinator and was fulfilled by being able to help my community and a small business.
I have 3 amazing children, Ashton 13; Laeton, 10; and a baby girl Revely who is 10 months old. My fiancé Michael, I and our children live outside of Percival, IA, which is in close proximity to the HCA property.
I am beyond excited for this opportunity to not only work with a small business but to share the beauty of the Loess Hills with the ENTIRE world. I plan to organize community events to support veterans, nature enthusiasts, active families and horse lovers, all while supporting other small, local businesses. Be on the lookout for all of the fun I have planned this upcoming spring and summer.
NEW Events Coming In 2023
We’ll get started with a Valentine’s weekend package that includes a stay in our beautiful Trailhead Station, a gourmet 4 course meal provided by the wonderful Horse Shoe Cafe, a romantic horseback ride, and a dozen roses.
We’re working on an event called Razorback, which is a tough mudder-type obstacle course
Veterans are close to our hearts here at HCA and we support our vets as often as possible. We’re putting together a Veteran Suicide Awareness Ruck for later this year.
Again, I am so very blessed and excited to have this opportunity. I look forward to meeting you on you next visit to Horse Creek Adventures in 2023! Come out to the property and “Get Away From It All!”
